The First Team To Score
The stats on teams that are first to score the most in the top football leagues.
First team to score explained
This isn't a complicated feature but there has been some confusion. The first team to score is the first team to go 1-0 up in the game by scoring their first goal or for the benefit of any away team going ahead, they would go 0-1.
According to most betting sites, own goals do not count in any instance of first scoring bets and is therefore ignored. If the first goal is an official own goal, it is skipped (ignored) and any bets on first scorers are still in-play pending the next goal - hopefully not another OG which is also once again ignored.
How to bet on first team to score
Most sportsbooks normally have this in their goals section of the fixture betting page. It's not a popular market so is not normally prominent in the first couple of blocks of bets - you'll have to do some scrolling to find it.
It's a home team or away team bet, you find the fixture you want to bet on, find the first team to score block and you click the team you think will score first to add the bet to your betting slip.
It is however a popular addition to the bet builder feature that some bookies offer as it's often a somewhat more reliable market than selecting say a player to score or the eventual result. You can expect quite short odds in this market as there are teams that regularly go on the attack early and have a pattern of scoring first.
